Course content
Day one
With a focus on experimental creativity, students will
be encouraged to initiate both traditional and
non-traditional methods of drawing, under the careful
guidance of the teacher. Exercises such as drawing with
eyes shut and drawing with the opposite hand will be
encouraged, to achieve a drawing style that is loose,
free and gestural. These classes are perfect for
beginners and also for more experienced artists who may
feel they need a new approach to existing techniques.
Students will create their own response in a site
specific location along the edge of the Queanbeyan
River, well known for it's bird life and platypus
habitats. Claire will guide students through a step by
step process, outlining possible approaches to
constructing a landscape drawing.
Day Two
After a rigorous day of preparing, planning and
experimentation students will then initiate a longer
painting study in the studio. Students will be
encouraged to develop a resolved interpretation of the
landscape, using traditional painting methods.
