Course content
Day one
With a focus on experimental creativity, students will be encouraged to initiate both traditional and non-traditional methods of drawing, under the careful guidance of the teacher. Exercises such as drawing with eyes shut and drawing with the opposite hand will be encouraged, to achieve a drawing style that is loose, free and gestural. These classes are perfect for beginners and also for more experienced artists who may feel they need a new approach to existing techniques.
Students will create their own response in a site specific location along the edge of the Queanbeyan River, well known for it's bird life and platypus habitats. Claire will guide students through a step by step process, outlining possible approaches to constructing a landscape drawing.
Day Two
After a rigorous day of preparing, planning and experimentation students will then initiate a longer painting study in the studio. Students will be encouraged to develop a resolved interpretation of the landscape, using traditional painting methods.

“ I am interested in recreating the surfaces, textures and colours evocative of a particular place, although each work is a culmination of many different images, spaces and experiences, achieved through memory and
experimentation.“
Primrose has participated in group and solo exhibitions both locally and nationally.
She has been selected as a finalist for many significant awards and prizes including most recently the Kedumba Drawing Award 2017 with 20 other national artists,The Adelaide Perry Drawing Prize 2018, The Paul Guest Drawing Award 2017 and also the 2018 Collie Art Award.
